Welcome to Hopfields' website, where you can purchase hops for decoration, cultivation or medication! After more than 50 years growing our award-winning hops for the country's best brewers, we've 'gone public'. Great!

What's so good about the Hop?

  • Humulus lupulus - our native English Hop - can quickly climb to a height of 20 feet and succeeds in sun or semi-shade.
  • Female plants produce a cone-like seed head which is used as the bitter flavouring and preservative in beer.
  • This seed head is also widely used as a medicinal herb, its sedative properties make it an ideal material to stuff pillows with since it aids restful sleep.
  • Hop Garlands (Hop Bines) make excellent - lush and long-lasting - decorations for homes, churches, pubs and restaurants. When fresh and green they have a captivating aroma.
  • The young shoots can be eaten in the spring - harvested when they are about 1 ft long and cooked like asparagus. The flavour is said to be unique and to many tastes (but frankly, not all) delicious.

This website provides information about our 2004 range of 'products'. If you don't see what you want, then don't hesitate to contact us - we'll be pleased to cater to your particular needs.
